actually CURRENT audio blogging
Dec. 17th, 2024 10:02 pmbacking up the WTCF cohost blog is taking WAY MORE TIME AND ENERGY than i expected. i'll have to finish tomorrow.
but in the spirit of it all, i DID work on some stuff today, so let's talk about it!
i have the house to myself, so i took the opportunity to sing loud and even do the proper belting on "mystify". it sounds really cool. i also tweaked the tone of the guitar solo. it still needs some work though: the drum loop needs more work, i.e. i'll probably have to make most of one from scratch, and i probably need another guitar solo at the end. along with all the mixing bits. digital audio continues to be my burden.
i've kinda abandoned bitwig studio for now; i upgraded my mac mini recently to the m4 mac mini, which should get me through the next handful of years. even at a discount! plus i didn't want to pay $200 to get the features i wanted. i also have invested quite a bit into some very specific software on here sooooo i'll be okay. it's fine.
i REALLY want to cover dokken's "alone again" and put out mystify with it as a single. i would have to pay for the licensing to distribute which i'm not looking forward to, but man it would sound cool. the song is in my range even in my chest voice which makes me excited. plus it's one my dad liked to play on guitar growing up; it was from one of his favorite albums when he was growing up. so i think it would be a nice surprise for him. (even though he might be caught up in it not sounding like the original...ah well)
i'm hoping to jump into more music stuff in the new year. between cohost shutting down and just life happening (november was really bad for me this year), i just kinda got stuck. we're gonna go get em though! my "one new release each year" thing will still stand strong, though i'm not sure at this point if i'll be able to crank out another album. might just be an EP, or a short album. we'll see, you never know though!! maybe doing 80s rock in my chest voice will be my big break. but then i'll need vocal lessons so i don't wreck myself HSDHGSDG
